I thought I would talk a little about what inspired me to write the Charmer series. It started with the flu. If you have ever had the flu, you know how terrible it makes you feel. I had fever and chills, and muscle pain. I felt like I had been hit by a truck. I could not sleep at all, and I resorted to tossing and turning on the couch. Somewhere in the wee morning hours, I drifted off to a half sleep state. It was then that I had the dream. I saw three people, a knight, a young girl and a dark elf with black skin and ice blue hair and eyes. They were backed up to a cliff overlooking the sea. Across from them was the entire king's army. Just as the army was about to attack and kill these three people, the ground began to shake. The sea started to stir and then this massive dragon rose up from the water. He had scales like steel, and tore through the king's army in no time at all. Yet, he did not harm the other three beings and slipped back into the sea. I woke up intrigued. I became obsessed with these three people. Who were they? What had they done to the king? Where did this dragon come from? Why didn't it kill them? I sat down, and I wrote an outline of the story. I decided to call it Dragon Charmer, but I did a search, and there was a book with that name. So, I shortened it to Charmer. There are three parts to this tale and three to the next chapter involving Rylok, the dark elf and his quest to find his people.
